Our Story
The Ramgarhia, encompassing members of the Lohar and Tarkhan subgroups, are a group of peoples commonly found in the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan. They are traditionally mostly carpenters but included other artisan occupations such as stonemasons and blacksmiths.
Ramgarhia inventiveness and skills at construction, repair and maintenance were exemplary, that the British, encouraged many Ramgarhia to move to colonies in East Africa in the 1890s and migrate within India during the first quarter of the 20th century, where they assisted in the creation of that region's infrastructure.
"We learn from the past, to serve the future."
